Welcome to the new GRHANITE™ Website!

The GRHANITE™ system has been under development for over 5 years now representing over 20 man-years of effort to give Australia the tools to ethically undertake audit, research and health surveillance activities. We believe that this toolset has the potential to place Australia at the forefront of such activities internationally.

GRHANITE™ is now being used across 8 major research and health surveillance projects nationally and GRHANITE™ Client installations are in every State and Territory. The GRHANITE™ HIU has the formal processes established to evaluate any new proposed project and standard procedures to guide organisations and health professionals in using GRHANITE™ to achieve their audit, research and health surveillance goals.

This website marks a move to the full national production release of the GRHANITE™ tools to support audit, research and health surveillance in Australia and we look forward to working with you.

Dr Douglas Boyle,
Head GRHANITE™ Health Informatics Unit,

5 Sep 2013 GRHANITE™ Client v4996 release

Defects Resolved:
  • The GRHANITE Client Installer was on occasion not finding the location of SQLCMD.exe used in the installation and configuration of the GRHANITE SQL Instance. This defect was introduced in the previous version 1.0.4965 as a result of changing the GRHANITE Client install location. There are no other modifications in this GRHANITE Client release.

New Features / Enhancements:
  • None

Known Issues / Limitation:
  • If GRHANITE is extracting data from very large databases, there is a risk the extract processing may exceed the SQL Server Express limit of 4 Gb. This has not affected a live GRHANITE project to-date.
  • An out-of-memory exception is possible in situations where the number of patients or file sizes exceed those previously encountered in GRHANITE projects. This has not been encountered in a live environment to-date.
  • If the PC running GRHANITE Client has a processor utilisation at or approaching 100% before GRHANITE starts, GRHANITE data extracts can fail due to inadequate resource availability.
28 Apr 2013 GRHANITE™ Client v4835 release

Defects Resolved:
  • When running DELTA processing on very large tables (~1,000,000 records) a timeout can occur. This release resolves this issue.
  • If the above issue occurred, GRHANITE Client was exporting files for the tables that completed successfully. This results in a partial data extraction. This has been resolved - any failure will now ensure no files are transmitted and GRHANITE is left in a state ready to repeat the data extract when the issue causing failure is resolved.

New Features / Enhancements:
  • The performance of DELTA processing and normal data extract file generation has been improved.
  • Additional logging of export progress in GRHANITE Client logs. Changes affecting GRHANITE Databank Schemas.
